Tirex Resources Appoints Dr. Genc Demi as Special Advisor
Tirex Resources Ltd. (“Tirex”) has appointed Dr. Genc Demi, Ph.D as a Special Advisor, Mineral Processing and Mining.
Dr. Demi is a well known mineral processing and mining engineer with 40 years of experience in the Albanian mineral processing industry. Dr. Demi graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Geology and Mines, in 1974 and received his Doctor of Science degree from the Polytechnic University of Tirana in 1996, with a dissertation focussed on mineral processing of ores of the Bulqiza ultra basic massif.
Dr. Demi is a member of the Sustainable Economic Development Agency, the Environmental Engineers Society, the Mineral Processing Engineers Society and the Mining Engineers Society. He supervised the installation and construction of the State copper mineral processing plant in Fushe Arrez in 1974-1976, the Bulqiza chromium mineral processing plant’s third section in 1978-1979, completed supervision of installation and construction work of the processing plants in Krasta and Klosi in 1988-1989 for the Swedish company Sala and was also involved in supervision of various northern Albanian copper processing activities from 1988-2007. He has international experience in addition to his work in Albania and has authored and co-authored several important papers relating to mineral processing and environmental stewardship including such work as “Concentration of copper zinc ores by flotation in Albania” which was presented at the 23rd International Mineral Processing Congress in 2006.
After six years of work and more than USD $25 million invested in six specific areas of the Mirdita Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide District in northern Albania, Tirex applied to transition these six areas for exploration licenses to exploitation (mining) licenses. After a14 month review period by the Albanian government, the 25 year licenses were granted to Tirex in January 2013.
Lorenco was engaged last month to complete a boundary survey of the mining licenses on this project with an initial focus on the high priority Tuci/East Tuci and Qaf Bari license areas.
Subject to TSX Venture approval, Tirex has granted, under its stock option plan, incentive options to various directors, employees, and consultants totalling 1,670,000, exercisable for a period of up to five years from the date of the grant at $0.36 per share. Recently, 1,520,000 options previously issued under the company’s stock option plan, exercisable at various prices, expired.
