Appointment of New Director

Gem International Resources Inc. (the “Company”) (TSXV: GI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rupert Baring to the broad of directors.

Mr. Baring lives in London, United Kingdom and has worked for more than 20 years in the diamond industry, including extensive experience as a diamond broker with De Beers and I. Hennig & Co. He has in-depth knowledge of the diamond markets in Belgium, Israel and India and has negotiated mineral licenses in more than a dozen African countries including Botswana, Sierra Leone, Angola, South Africa and Lesotho.

Mr. Baring is a co-founder and a director of Mantle Diamonds Ltd., which was recently acquired by Kimberley Diamonds Ltd. (KDL). During his time with Mantle Diamonds, Mr. Baring successfully raised capital for the purchase and development of the Lerala Diamond Mine in Botswana and was instrumental in developing government relations. Mr. Baring is currently the independent non-executive director of KDL which is a public company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
